Great Wildebeest Migration Photo Safaris - Untamed Photo Safaris

TOUR OVERVIEW

Join me for an 11-day photographic journey through three of Kenya’s most iconic wildlife regions — built for photographers who want powerful moments, creative challenge, and a front-row seat to some of Africa’s greatest natural stories.

We begin with three nights in Amboseli National Park, where we’ll photograph large herds of elephants moving across the open plains beneath Mount Kilimanjaro. With soft light, dramatic dust, and timeless scenes, this is where elephant photography shines.

From there, we head to Tsavo West and Lumo Conservancy for a focused photo hide experience. Over two nights, you’ll shoot from the Lions Bluff underground hide, designed specifically for wildlife photography. We’ll target zebra, elephants, and nocturnal species like civets, hyenas, and possibly even lions, and leopard — all from an intimate, eye-level perspective.

We end with four nights in the Masai Mara, arriving during the Great Migration when the plains are alive with wildebeest, predators, and the high drama of survival. We’ll track lions, cheetahs, and leopards in golden light, position for river crossings, and follow the stories as they unfold.

This safari is built around variety, access, and photographic depth — with charter flights, expert guidance, and flexible timing to ensure you’re in the right place at the right moment. I’ll be there every step of the way, helping you capture images with purpose, power, and presence.

EQUIPMENT TO BRING

CAMERA BODY:

Guests are encouraged to bring a camera body with a minimum of 24-megapixels to guarantee the best results while on safari. This can be mirrorless or a DSLR, as your photo host is experienced with both and will be able to offer assistance whenever need be.

A second camera body is always a great consideration, however, this is not mandatory. This can be used as a backup, or you can keep a second lens attached and switch back and forth between cameras.

LENSES:

24–70mm lens: Perfect for hide photography in Tsavo, allowing for immersive wide shots, portraits, and environmental storytelling when animals approach the hides at close range.

70–200mm lens: Another essential for hide setups, offering excellent reach and compression for slightly more distant subjects while maintaining flexibility and responsiveness in tight spaces. This is also a great lens for Amboseli Elephant photography, capturing the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.

400mm/500mm prime lens: Highly recommended for Masai Mara game drives and general wildlife photography throughout the safari. These lenses provide the reach and clarity needed to capture intimate predator moments, action scenes, and wildlife behavior in open terrain.
