PHOTOGRAPHIC SAFARIS

Photograph Africa

Africa offers some of the world's greatest wildlife photography opportunities, but extraordinary photographs rarely happen by chance. A photographic safari is about far more than simply travelling to remarkable places. It is about slowing down, understanding wildlife behaviour, working with the light and sharing the experience with people who see the world through the lens.

Private Wildlife Photography Safari Africa – Jaren A. Fernley

MORE THAN A HOLIDAY

what is a photographic safari?

A photographic safari is designed around photography rather than sightseeing. Instead of rushing between destinations or following fixed schedules, every day is shaped by wildlife activity, changing light and photographic opportunity.

Whether waiting patiently beside a river crossing, spending hours with a pride of lions or returning to the same location over several days, the goal is to create meaningful photographic experiences rather than simply ticking species from a list.

Every journey is supported by professional photographic guidance, expert local knowledge and a shared passion for wildlife, allowing you to develop your skills while experiencing Africa at a much deeper level.

WHY TRAVEL THIS WAY?

built around the photograph

Purpose-built for Photographers

Every detail is designed around creating better opportunities.

From vehicle positioning and departure times to how long we remain with a subject, the experience is shaped around creating the strongest photographic opportunities.

Space to Create

Room for you and your equipment.

Small guest numbers mean more space inside the vehicle, clearer shooting angles and the freedom to move quickly when an opportunity develops, without competing for position or working around crowded seating.

Time to Wait

The best moments rarely happen on command.

Rather than rushing from one sighting to another, we can stay with a subject, observe its behaviour and wait for the moment, light or interaction we're hoping for.

Knowledge in the Field

Understand what happens before it happens.

Wildlife behaviour, local knowledge and photographic experience come together in the field, helping us anticipate opportunities rather than simply react to them.

Photographic Support

Guidance when you want it. Freedom when you don't.

From camera settings and autofocus to composition and creative decisions, support is always available while leaving experienced photographers the freedom to work independently.

Wildlife Comes First

The photograph should never come at the animal's expense.

Patience, responsible positioning and respect for wildlife sit at the heart of every safari. The goal is to photograph natural behaviour without forcing the encounter.

BEHIND EVERY JOURNEY

photography with purpose

My role on safari goes far beyond helping with camera settings. Years spent photographing Africa have taught me that the strongest opportunities often come from understanding behaviour, anticipating what may happen next and knowing when the best decision is simply to wait.

I work alongside exceptional local guides, combining their intimate knowledge of the wildlife and landscape with my own photographic experience. Together, we create opportunities that are considered, responsible and built around natural behaviour rather than forcing a photograph.

Whether you are relatively new to wildlife photography or have years of experience behind the camera, I meet you where you are photographically. My role is not to tell you how your photographs should look, but to help you recognise opportunities, develop your own creative approach and return home with images that feel distinctly yours.
